Clay County’s official viewing site for the All American Total Solar Eclipse will open parking gates at 9 am and CLOSE at 12-noon or when capacity is reached. Be sure to arrive early. Eclipse memorabilia, T-shirts, and Safety Glasses will be sold while items last. Venders will offer food, drink, craft, entertainment, games, and a bounce house for kids. At 11:30 AM a NASA affiliated expert in the Sounding Rocket Program will be guiding the making and launching of rockets. Please bring your own empty and clean 2 liter plastic bottle to participate. No bottles will be provided. The solar eclipse begins at 1:05 and continues until about 4 PM. At 2:34 PM the moon reaches totality and darkness will occur for two minutes and thirty-three seconds. No street lights will interfere with the viewing experience in this open sky location and we anticipate clear weather. We ask that everyone observe silence during totality in order to optimize the awesomeness of the experience. We’re excited to view this once in a lifetime event with you, your family & friends.
